Movie and T.V show titles

After taking a few minutes to scroll through Netflix I started noticing that both movie and T.V. titles have a common theme; they are not very long. You have movies like The Mummy, The Cobbler and Anastasia which focuses on a single idea from the movie. You also have a two-part title like Pirates of the Caribbean, Orange is the new Black, and The DoOver. Those seem to be more in style right now. The newer T.V. shows have a simple two-part title that both informs and intrigues the potential audience into watching.

As you look through out time there are trends in how detailed titles are for the audience to choose if they want to watch. Gone with the Wind came out in 1939 as well as The Wizard of Oz and Mr. Smith goes to Washington. These have much more syllables than the movies that are being produced today. In 2015 we saw movie titles like Spectre, Ant-Man and Minions. I think this style goes along with the instant gratification we look for in movies today. I believe back in 1939 audiences were looking for a full feature length movie and high quality entertainment.
